MFI-17, 'Mushshak'



Mission

The MFI-17 Mushshak is a one propeller engine aircraft used for training undergraduate student pilots fundamentals
of aircraft handling, instrument, and night flying. It is also used for reconnaisance, observation and transportation purposes.
 

Features

MFI-17 was designed as a multirole reconnaisance and ground attack aircraft. Also this aircraft is used to train pilots in the PAF Academy Risalpur. Its main features are provision for full blind-flying instrumentation and radio.

General Characteristics

Primary Function: Reconnaisance and ground attack aircraft.

Builder: Pakistan Aeronautical Complex.

Power Plant: One Textron Lycoming IO-360-AIB6 flat-four engine , driving a Hartzell HC-C2YK-4F/FC7666A-2 two-blade constant-speed metal propeller with spinner.

Thrust: 149 kW (200 hp).

Length: 22 feet, 11.5 inches (7 meters)

Height: 8 feet, 6.5 inches (2.60 meters)

Maximum Takeoff Weight: 2,645 lbs (1,200 kgs)

Wingspan: 29 feet, 0.5 inches (8.85 meters)

Speed: 146 mph (365 km/h at sea level)

Ceiling: 13,450 feet (4,100 meters)

Range: 500 miles (800 km) with two missles and three drop tanks.

Armament: Provision for six underwing attachment points, the inner two stressed to carry up to 150 kg (330 lb) each and the outer four up to 100 kg (220 lb) each. Possible armament loads include two 7.62 mm machine-gun pods, two pods each with seven 75 mm air-to-surface rockets, four pods each with seven 68 mm rockets, eighteen 75 mm rockets, or six wire guided anti-tank missles.

Crew: Two; provision for a third seat in the rear.
