The flying operations of the air force are carried out and suppoted from a number of operational, training and maintainance bases located all over the country. Each base embodies a well knit community of officers and men who operate and maintain various weapon systems of the air force. These bases can be divided into three major categories :
Major Operational Bases
Major Operational Bases: These are the bases from which the PAF planes operate during peace time. They have complete infrastructure of hardened shelters, control towers, workshops, ordnance depots etc. These are ten in number and are : 1.PAF Masroor
Forward Operational Bases: These are the bases on which the planes are dispersed during war. They are capable of supporting almost all types of missions. They are generally lightly manned during peace time. They are eleven in number : 1.PAF Sukkur
Satellites: These bases are only meant for emergency landing and recovery of the aircrafts. They have a very small infrastructure and are either lightly manned or unmanned. They are nine in number: 1.PAF Rahim
Yar Khan
Ground Installations: There are some other training and radar bases that do not have a runway and other landing facilities. They are six in number : 1.PAF Korangi
